Steps

  1. Prepare the Ginger: Peel and finely grate the fresh ginger. Use a grater or a food processor for this.
  2. Mix Ingredients: Combine grated ginger, soy sauce, vinegar, sugar, sesame oil, and lemon juice in a bowl. Add garlic if using.
  3. Adjust Consistency: Add water to reach desired consistency, if necessary.
  4. Stir and Dissolve Sugar: Stir well to dissolve sugar and combine flavors.
  5. Let It Sit: Allow to sit for at least 30 minutes before serving.
  6. Strain (Optional): Strain for a smoother sauce.
  7. Refrigerate: Store leftovers in the refrigerator, best used within a few days.
